My Ham Biography:
I was first licensed in April of 1996 as a Technician with the call KC5TYN. I was 14 at the time that I passed my Technician exam. My parents bought me a Yaesu CPU-2500 2m rig and a discone antenna from Radioshack. I got on the air and was a regular on the local 2m repeater.
I upgraded to Tech Plus and then General by 1997 and then Advanced with the callsign KM5LM. By April of 1998 I had my Extra and received the call AC5PQ. My parents paid for my vanity call and I received N5YT in August of 1998. Since getting my General I spend 99.9% of my hamming time on HF.
I mostly chase DX on the HF bands and I do enjoy a good ragchew . I now have a strong interest in operating AM on 75m. I am doing research on assembling a station to operate AM with. I have an old Drake TR-4 that I am thinking of using.
